As a nurse, we have all heard numerous times about cultural competence. Organizations even put it in the mission statements. But achieving cultural competence does not happen overnight. As a nurse executive, you have a dedicated responsibility to see that this is indeed a part of your organization. View the attached document from The Expert Panel on Global Nursing and Health. You do not need to read the whole thing, but pick any one of the 12 standards and write a 1-2 page reflective paper on two barriers to that you foresee to addressing the standard and then make a suggestion or two on how you could start to implement this at your workplace. Each standard has a further explanation your may want to review. Because this is a reflective paper you can use first person I.
